Opening their doors 10 years ago, owners Kyle Brierley and Skyler Riley crafted the perfect combination of their last names to create the name Brileys BBQ and Grill. Everything at Brileys is the perfect balance of this and that. Indoor and outdoor, Main dishes and side dishes, Alcoholic and nonalcoholic. Brileys is a place of balance, and they excel at it. Located in Lake Forest Park ,Washington, Brileys screams Summer in Seattle. As a Washington newcomer, I am on the hunt for the best vibes and bites, and Brileys certainly tops this list, with the perfect blend of each.
The indoor dining area hosts cozy, tight-knit seating with sporting events on the televisions and ample views of Lake Washington seen from the numerous windows. On warm, less rainy days, the back garage door opens up, allowing a seamless flow from inside to out. Here, a large open patio offers picnic style seating with room to watch as guests enjoy games like corn hole and giant Jenga.
The bites at Brileys are as top tier as the atmosphere. When it comes to barbeque, they know exactly how to do it well. Their featured items include melt in your mouth cornbread, drizzled in honey butter, a Kansas City style pulled pork sandwich, and the much talked about Dorfman Platter. As a veggie girl myself, the seasonal selection of street corn hit the spot. Coated in butter, cajun seasoning, cotija cheese, and fresh lime, this dish solidified my stance that Brileys does great barbeque.
All their high quality meats are fired over cherry wood sourced from Eastern Washington, giving their dishes a uniquely perfect taste. For main dishes, almost any option is sure to delight, but the sandwiches proved to be well crafted and sauced. Side dishes also include a creamy mac and cheese, salted crispy potato fries, barbeque beans, and jalapeno hush puppies, a must try.
Next time you’re in the mood for a summer experience full of fun, good beer, and even better food, make sure to stop at Brileys and have a bite or two.
